If you still doubt between the Galaxy S7 or S7 edge, the Gear VR can be the decisive factor: the S7 edge work less well in the glasses. That was indicated by John Carmack, Oculus VR’s chief technology officer, in a reaction on Twitter.
Galaxy S7 fits better in the Gear VR than the S7 edge
Just before Mobile World Congress started, Samsung announced the Galaxy S7 and S7 Galaxy Edge. If you still doubt between the two versions of the same smartphone, the Gear VR can be the decisive factor. Although both devices can easily be used in virtual reality headset, it is true that the Galaxy S7, with its 5.1-inch screen, is better for the specs than its larger sibling. John Carmack, Oculus VR’s chief technology officer, said that in a comment on Twitter.
Carmack is responsible at Oculus for co-operation between the company and Samsung, so if someone knows, then he is it. Carmack also explains why the S7 is better than the S7 Edge for the Gear VR.
The edge pixels aren’t quite as well used, and it leaks a little more light.
The Gear VR glasses can not make full use of the screen of the S7 Edge because the display deflects on both sides. The ordinary S7 has a flat screen, so that problem is not present. That said, it is still possible to use the S7 Edge in the headset, but for the best possible experience, you would be better of with the regular S7 smartphone.
