Misfit makes beautiful fitness trackers, which you can wear on a necklace, bracelet, or clip. It is one of the few motion trackers that looks good and that you can use while swimming. The second generation Misfit Shine will soon be in stores. But are people still waiting for a separate tracker that you must put on every day?
Misfit Shine 2: more accurate
The Misfit Shine exists for more than two years while the technology is for more developed by now. Time for a new model with improved tracking of your movement and your sleep. The measurements are more accurate and the touch-sensitive portion on top of the tracker is also more responsive to touch. Some improvements: The Bluetooth range is increased, the LED lights now shine in different colors and you get a warning if you’re a long time inactive.
The Misfit Shine 2 contains an accelerometer with three axles and a new magnetometer which also works with three axles. Thus, the metal disc can better track your exercise and sleep. The Shine 2 is made of aluminum and has a better to read row of lights. With all sorts of extra accessories, you can wear the Shine 2 in multiple ways, like the previous model.
Is a fitness tracker that measures only movement still relevant today? If you’ve used a smart watch when you install all kinds of apps and receives notifications, it seems so limited. But wait, Misfit has found a solution for that! You can also use the Shine 2 as a remote control for all functions: to put on the lights, for music skipping, making a selfie, browse through a slideshow and more. You do this by tapping twice on the shine, but you must set what action must be taken. You can also use Shine to receive notifications for text messages and phone calls. Control accessories in the home with your Shine? That’s also possible.
Shine 2: also in pink gold …!
The appearance of the Shine 2 is also changed slightly compared to the first generation. It has become flatter and has a built-in vibrating motor which provides feedback when you tap it. For example, you also get a slap on the wrist, when it’s time to get up. That feature was announced by Apple Watch. The new rose gold color, is also a color we know from the Apple Watch. There are also differences: With the Shine 2 you can dive to a depth of 50 meters. Try that with the Apple Watch! The price is also much lower and the service life is longer: six months on one battery charge.
Misfit Shine 2 is available from November 1 for about $100 in shades of rose gold and carbon black.
